True Story - Unique things I loved about my wedding...

So, this time last year I was gearing up and counting down to my wedding day. Guess what I was not counting? You got it, RSVPs!

It's hard to believe that almost a year has gone by. Colin and I were our own first customers. We used my site for our engagement party, our rehearsal dinner, and our wedding. We planned an out of town wedding and you KNOW how hard that can be! What a relief it was to have everything self calculating in our sleep.

There are many unique things I loved about my wedding that I'd like to share with you:

#1 My husband of course

#The Love Boat was a rockin' location for both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding!

#Our family and friends stayed the week with us in Hatteras, NC before the wedding!

#My girlfriends did my flowers and decorated my cake!

#Colin threw the garter on a football to all of the single guys.

#The Groom's cake was a fire truck!

#We did the anniversary dance and my grandparents won at 54 years! (The winner gives advice to the newlyweds ;) )

#We did our first dance to Jack Johnson and then broke out into Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel"

#The guys bought custom linen suits from MakeYourOwnJeans.com and changed into Just Married and Wedding Security T-shirts after the ceremony!

#A storm knocked our bamboo alter down on Friday night and our family and friends came together to put it back up Saturday morning!

#We jumped in the pool at the end of the night!

I told Colin I'd like to get married to him again every year. He said we could do it again at 10. I'm counting down the next 9.... ;)

Rainy Wedding Day

It’s every bride’s nightmare: rain on your wedding day! For summer brides it can often become a reality. Although it can rain any time of year, summer weddings are often held outside which means they can get the worst of it. But don’t fret, it is your wedding day after all and you should enjoy it. Here are some tips to make the best out of a rainy wedding day:

1. First you need a positive attitude. It’s not what you wanted but you did want to marry your fiancĂ© and you still get to do that! If you think positively you can still really enjoy your wedding.
2. For tents used during the ceremony or the reception, make sure they’re rain safe. Leaks or holes in the tent can cause a lot of problems.
3. Some photographers say that rain can enhance your photos. It gives softer lighting and can add to the emotion of the day. Plus, you can have fun with your pictures by dancing in the rain or having a misty background.
4. If you’re walking down the aisle outdoors when it’s rained, consider switching to flats. Heels are not exactly known for their compatibility with mud. ;)
5. Rain usually causes the temperature to cool so your guests won’t be so hot outside, not to mention helping you cool down in your dress!
6. Have a place for guests to put umbrellas. Help eliminate that extra thing you have to carry around that drips water all over your venue. Have somewhere near the entrance to place or check in umbrellas and you and your guests will be very thankful.

It’s not the ideal weather for your wedding, but you can make the most of it. At least everyone will appreciate the DJ playing “It’s Raining Men” at the reception a little more.

Hot mama! Holy heat wave!

Outdoor weddings are beautiful. They provide the perfect setting, perfect lighting, but not always the perfect temperature. For summer weddings especially, it can get downright hot! When planning your summer wedding it’s important to not forget about the “summer” part of your wedding. Here are two quick things you may have forgotten that can help beat the heat.

It’s important to have places where your guests can cool off. For example, fans around the tent, an indoor bathroom, and don’t forget supplying plenty of water to drink. Guests should be fainting because of your beauty not because of the heat!

Make sure to wear sunscreen. You don’t want to be a permanently blushing bride and being sun burnt on your honeymoon isn’t so romantic. You can get a nice light sunscreen that won’t mess up your makeup and you’ll be ready to go!

Have a wonderful summer wedding and stay cool!
